Whom to choose-adult dog or a puppy?

Facility for adult dog (Habituation)

This process can be divided into three stages:
  1. The first three days after the dog’s appearing in your house you just need to spend time with it–to feed, caress, play.
  2. During the following three weeks you must teach it to know the rules of home behavior, as well as to obey you and solve such problems as procedure for walk, walking area, etc.
  3. Only then you can set about guard training as applied to certain conditions. A tracker dog must totally accommodate itself to you and put up with the environment in your house to the end of the first months of its life.

It goes without saying that some elements of guard training are allowed during the first three weeks. You yourself will see whether your dog is ready for training or not. But it is better not to start the lessons until the dog has accommodated itself to you finally and acclimatized itself to new life conditions.

What is better a puppy or adult dog?

The decision depends on purely personal preferences. Generally speaking, if you have animals or children at home then it is better to acquire a puppy. It will get along with these family members very quickly. The dog that grew up separately may show aggression towards children, cats, etc.

An adult dog is more suitable for a lonely man or a childless couple. But if you were robbed lately or became a victim of some crime and need an urgent protection, an adult dog is the only solution. It is better to buy the dog from a trainer: here at least you will be able to know what you buy.

You may observe a chosen dog while it is being taught in the training ground and get exhaustive information on its previous life. Buying an imported dog you do not absolutely know anything about the people with whom it lived, about the conditions of its life and about the training method that was applied to it.
